This event launches an awareness campaign about the importance of preserving the heritage in order to give an added value to the tourist offer; consequently its long term impact will be higher

Participants will have the opportunity to know SOSTURMAC Project (Sustainable interventions on natural and architectural heritage and development of low-carbon tourism initiatives in the Canary Islands and in Cape Verde), co-financed by the EU INTERREG MAC 2014-2020. The Institute of Technology and Renewable Energies leads this project, transferring its experience in the development of low carbon technologies and in the management of a Zero CO2 tourist accommodation: ITER Bioclimatic Houses. The Tenerife Energy Agency, organizes guided tours to this sustainable accommodation, in order to raise awareness about the importance of using bioclimatic architecture criteria, energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies in the domestic and in the tourist sector. The event will show how sustainable tourism can be an opportunity for socioeconomic improvement and environmental protection, promoting sustainable actions on the natural and architectural heritage. This event also includes the organization of a Conference “Becoming aware of the Zero CO2 tourist accommodation ITER Bioclimatic Houses and of the natural and architectural heritage of Granadilla de Abona”, that will take place on June 22nd in ITER’s facilities. This Conference will show the high value of the natural and architectural heritage of Granadilla de Abona and the importance of having a Zero CO2 tourist accommodation at its municipality for its promotion as a sustainable tourist destination.
