NatureWatch is the first meeting dedicated to encourage wildlife observation tourism in Spain. The observation of flora, fauna and geology is the main resource for ecotourism, the branch of the global tourism growing more in the world at present. NatureWatch will bring first level speakers to the Somiedo Natural Park in Asturias, surely the best place to talk and discuss about how wildlife observation can be transformed into socioeconomic development and conservation. The meeting begins on May 19th with an emotive encounter between people that was filming bears in the area 30 years ago, in the very beginnings of the nature tourism in Spain. The Saturday´s speakers will talk about wildlife observation in different areas of the world (bear, wolf and lynx in Rumania, cougar in Chile and large mammals in Africa) and in different regions of Spain (bear in Somiedo, wolf in Zamora and lynx in Jaen). Finally, on Sunday 21st there will be a debate about how to improve the observation tourism focus on the bear, the main resource for ecotourism in Somiedo. All of this will be accompanied by two field excursion to watch the bears in one of the best moments of the year for it, activities with the local school, and the exhibition of the film `Cantabrico´ just few weeks after the film being shown in cinemas of all of the country.
