Join us on 18th May 2017 in Leeds to learn about pioneering responsible tourism practice from around the world. We’re celebrating both ten years of delivering our MSc Responsible Tourism Management course, and the UN International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development which aims to support a change in policies, business practices and consumer behaviour towards a more sustainable tourism sector.

The morning’s conference programme will focus on practical strategies for managing the interaction between tourists and local people in destinations with our keynote speakers sharing their leading practice from Australia to Myanmar. We’ll look at how innovative approaches to tour guiding, visitor management, interpretation, volunteer guidelines, participatory planning and managing hassle can create a conducive environment for positive encounters and maximising local benefit through tourism.

The afternoon is set aside for our ‘Alumni Spotlight’ where our impressive line-up of former students will share their responsible tourism ‘success stories’, ‘heroic failures’ and ‘ideas on the go’ with plenty of opportunity for audience feedback and questions.

After the conference we will move to All Bar One for informal networking.
