eco-friendly technology for tourism

 In Solutions

Do we really know the true impact on the environment? The consumption of water and plastic waste are two factors that have the greatest impact on the carbon footprint of human beings, together with CO2 emissions produced by transportation of people or goods.

The carbon footprint of tourism
Tourism generates large amounts of plastic waste, both water bottles and other products, which ultimately end up in our seas and oceans. The harmful effects of these plastic wastes threaten the sustainability of natural resources and especially affect the marine ecosystem.
But it is not just waste. Between 2 and 3 litres of water are needed to produce a single one litre plastic water bottle, to which we must add the impact of transportation. Bottled water must be transported in heavy trucks, with the subsequent fuel consumption and CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere.

Sustainable tourism = less plastic waste
The tourism sector has the opportunity to promote sustainable tourism, based on initiatives that encourage water saving, as well as reducing plastic waste and CO2 emissions.
Sustainable tourism is possible when resources are used responsibly and efficiently. Both travellers and the accommodations they visit have the opportunity to contribute positively to protect the environment and raise awareness of others with their actions.
