hackaTrip in FITUR 2017
Minube promotes collaborative learning, innovation and professional empowerment in order to co-create a more sustainable and responsible tourism industry. In that sense, as Official Sponsors of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017, minube promotes e-learning initiatives like minube School or the first Hackathon on responsible tourism celebrated in a tourism fair, with the goal of getting the different stakeholders of the tourism sector to generate disruptive ideas for a better world in an entertaining way.
With the name of #hackaTrips, minube celebrated the first Hackaton on tourism in FITUR 2017, in which 60 participants from different backgrounds (programmers, designers and professionals from the tourism sector) worked for the whole weekend to develop innovative projects in pursuit of responsible tourism. These initiatives were carried out through the APIs provided by Microsoft, Hotelbeds Group, Carto and Cabify (as well as minube), which collaborated and offered prizes for more than 4,000€ in value. Other brands within the sector collaborated as well, such as the Alcalá de Henares City Council, Hoteles Lopesan, Porsche and Hoteles Tryp de Meliá, which also distributed prizes for more than 5,000€ in value.
The winning project was “Pequeño Encanto”, and initiative that promotes the conservation of the historic and cultural heritage in rural zones with scarce economic resources in Spain. Its creators Enrique Puertas, José Luis Hermoso Fernández, Sergio Ródenas Álvarez, Borja Monsalve and Carlo Campozzella won 5 packs of a night in a hotel with a guided tour in Alcalá de Henares (around 200€ each in value) and 5 cash prizes of 200€ offered by Porsche.
