The Hosh Al-Syrian Guesthouse and Fawda Restaurant were born from a dream.

Off Star street, part of the UNESCO world Heritage site of Bethlehem, the Municipality of Bethlehem renovated with the CCHP and the Italian Palestinian Municipal Support Project a complex of old homes in the Hosh Al-Syrian in the aim of leasing them out as a guest house.

Fadi Kattan developed the place into a refined eatery and an exclusive charming boutique guesthouse where he combines the richness of the cultural heritage of Bethlehem and the diversity of local produce from the area around and the farmer’s market next door.

The team at the Hosh Al-Syrian Guesthouse and Fawda restaurant all come from backgrounds unrelated to the tourism industry but all have one thing in common, they want to work and learn. Nisreen, Niveen, Tony, Muna, Issa, Khader, Mahmoud and Ali enjoy dealing with guests from different cultures, traditions and countries and sharing with them the stories of Palestine, of the gastronomy, the building and the creativity of Chef Fadi’s kitchen.

In a little more than a year, the Hosh Al-Syrian has achieved to attract day visitors around a good meal of local, organic farmer’s products twisted with a modern re-interpretation of Palestinian cuisine into the old city core and cultural tourists who enjoy the quiet coziness of the 400 year old building.
